First Chinese company gains Leaping Bunny certification
The Leaping Bunny now has its first company based entirely in China.
Shanghai-based BA YAN KA LA signed up this week, as part of their commitment to ethical cosmetics.
BA YAN KA LA is a pioneering skincare and body care concept inspired by the millennia old Oriental Wisdom of herbal science. The company’s products are ethical, natural and clean, using organic and plant ingredients.
BA YAN KA LA is already the official cosmetics line, bathroom amenities and Spa treatment favourite brand for a selected number of leading boutiques, resorts and prominent global five star hotel names.
And the Leaping Bunny certified company is also now the exclusive provider to first class cabin passengers aboard China Eastern Airlines brand new Boeing 777 intercontinental service.
BA YAN KA LA was established by Jean Zimmermann, who has over 20 years life and work experience in China. The BA YAN KA LA concept is based on Oriental Wisdom and promotes ethical practices and fair trade.
Speaking after a Beijing conference on alternatives organised by Cruelty Free International with 40 Chinese scientists, Mr Zimmermann said, “I am delighted and proud BA YAN KA LA is the first Chinese company to achieve Leaping Bunny certification, demonstrating our commitment to cruelty free is at the heart of our brand. Animal testing is unethical and unnecessary, and I urge the Chinese cosmetics industry to turn its back on its cruel and outdated use of animals.”
Cruelty Free International Director of Policy Nick Palmer said, “We’re delighted to welcome BA YAN KA LA aboard and see this as a step towards establishing cruelty free products as the cosmetics mainstream in China. Last year, the Hong Kong Government acknowledged the Leaping Bunny as the hallmark for consumers who want to use cruelty free products, and with millions of urban consumers keen to embrace ethical standards, we hope to help build a brighter future for animals in the Chinese cosmetics industry."
