Sainsbury’s household products now Leaping Bunny approved

We call for an end to animal tests for the cleaning products we use in our homes every day

We are delighted to announce that Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, has been approved as cruelty free for its entire own-brand household cleaning products range.

The Leaping Bunny logo will be displayed on the supermarket’s own-brand packaging, giving cruelty free consumers more option on the British high street than ever before. The Leaping Bunny is the best assurance that a company is doing everything it can to remove animal testing from its supply chain,

Tragically countless rabbits, hamsters, rats and mice suffer and die in tests every year for ingredients that go into everyday household products such as washing up liquid, air fresheners and dishwasher tablets. We are calling on decision-makers in the UK and across the world to clean up cruelty for good by ending animal testing for household products.

Michelle Thew, Chief Executive of Cruelty Free International, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Sainsbury’s has met our rigorous criteria and achieved Leaping Bunny approval for its household products range. Having high profile companies like Sainsbury’s displaying the Leaping Bunny logo highlights increasing public awareness about the animal suffering involved in cleaning products. We need more stringent legislation in the UK and around the world to outlaw animal testing from the cleaning products we all use around our homes every day."

“We congratulate Sainsbury’s for demonstrating its commitment to eliminating animal testing and helping its customers make a cruelty free decision.”

The Leaping Bunny is the only globally recognised cruelty free programme for cosmetics, personal care and household cleaning products which demonstrates a genuine commitment within a company’s own-brand products. Sainsbury’s is one of over 1000 companies to have obtained Leaping Bunny approval. Other leading retailers that have been awarded the Leaping Bunny logo include Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, The Co-operative, Superdrug and Morrisons.
