In 2003, scientists at our parent company, Amyris, began a project that would change the world: they developed a patented technology that allowed the creation of an accessible cure for malaria. Inspired to continue making a positive impact on the world, we turned to skincare using the same patented technology to convert renewable sugarcane into squalane oil. Drawing on this rich history of science and sustainability we created incredibly effective and safe skincare, and Biossance was born. Our sugarcane-derived squalane oil is the foundation of every product we create at Biossance. Each additional ingredient used in our formulas is carefully reviewed, knowing that the final product will be used on faces and bodies every day. From our recyclable packaging to our blacklist of 2000+ ingredients and our No Compromise approach, we're passionate about the health of people, animals and the planet, and the environmental impact of everything we do.
