Bureaucratic hurdle removed to reduce experiments
The Indian Government has warned companies to stop repeating animal experiments already conducted in other countries. This ruling brings India into line with OECD regulations and has also been welcomed by industry. Repeat testing is not only a cause of animal suffering but also a pointless use of industry time and expense.
Michelle Thew commented, “This should be standard practice throughout the world: inflicting further suffering on animals purely to satisfy a bureaucratic requirement is both cruel and nonsensical. It’s another example of the way that archaic regulations have been leading to animal testing even when it is evident to everyone involved that there is no benefit at all.”
