Royal Jordanian break promise to stop monkey suffering

Airline exposed transporting monkeys doomed for the research industry

Cruelty Free International has been contacted by a concerned member of staff at Bangkok Airport about hundreds of monkeys flown from Thailand to the USA by Royal Jordanian Airlines, destined for use in cruel experiments. In 2014, Royal Jordanian contacted us pledging their commitment against transporting monkeys for research purposes. We are horrified and disappointed to learn that the promise to prevent these cruel shipments has been broken.

Photographs showing stacked crates containing monkeys, waiting to be loaded on to a Royal Jordanian flight at Bangkok Airport, have been sent to Cruelty Free International. It is difficult to imagine just how frightened and stressed such sensitive animals must feel; taken from their families, confined in these small wooden crates, trapped in a pitch black, noisy cargo hold. The route taken by these airplanes takes over 26 hours - for these imprisoned passengers merely the journey to a life of suffering, misery and even death, in a laboratory.

So far, our calls for Royal Jordanian to adopt a policy recommitting to ending their involvement in this cruel trade have gone unanswered. We need you to help us make sure the suffering of these monkeys isn’t ignored any longer.

Please use this quick form to email Royal Jordanian Airlines urging them to adopt a permanent policy to stop these shipments for good.

Thanks to people like you, we can prevent the suffering of these intelligent animals and add more passenger airlines to our list of those committed to end their involvement in the international trade in primates for research.
