Over 192 million animals were used for scientific purposes in laboratories in 2015, according to the latest reliable figures. These figures included over 112 million animals who were killed for their tissues, used to breed genetically modified animal strains and animals bred for experiments but then not used.
These are harrowing figures.
Animals are experiencing extreme cruelty in laboratories in the name of science worldwide, despite the availability of often cheaper, more effective non-animal methods.
